Asian Chilli Oil


This a standard ingredient across Oriental cuisines. You are bound to come across the chili oil in Chinese, Korean and Japanese restaurants. This is basically a neutral oil infused with szechuan peppercorn, red chili flakes and other seasoning that adds a flavour blast and lifts everything it is added to another level of yumminess! The Chilli Oil is versatile and can used with fried rice and noodles as well as with starters like fried spring rolls, Baos and Dim sums. It can also be accompanied with regular dishes such as the omelettes and sandwiches. Be sure to use a neutral oil i.e., canola, soyabean, sesame or any other vegetable oil. Once prepared the chilli oil can be made and stored in airtight jars. They keep good for two to three weeks and can stay longer if refrigerated. Some recipes do not use garlic, but I feel garlic adds to the taste and have used it in my recipe.
