Scale

Ingredients

  • 500 gms Fish steaks (kingfish, seer, pomfret, barramundi, trout, cod )
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 Tsp freshly grounded Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam Masala powder
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1.5 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • A handful of Curry leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean fish and pat it dry with kitchen towel.
  2. In a bowl mix all the spices, ginger-garlic  paste, lemon juice, salt, oil to make a thick paste. You may add 1 or 2-3 tbsp of water to the paste.
  3. Rub the marinade generously on the fish, covering all the sides.
  4. Let the marinated fish rest for about 30 mins. You may refrigerate it for 1-2 hours as well.
  5. Transfer the marinated fish to the air fryer basket. I had lined the basket with some aluminium foil to avoid any spills and for easy cleaning.
  6. Air fry at 180° C for about 7-8 mins before flipping the fish steaks and cooking them for a further 5-6 mins or until the masalas are cooked and the fish is crisp and lightly charred at the sides.
  7. After flipping, once the fish cooks for a couple of minutes, add a handful of curry leaves brushed with very little oil to the basket of the air fryer.
  8. Serve hot sprinkled with chaat masala, onion rings and lemon wedges of you like.
